Filmportal.de is an Internet movie database on German film with extensive information on films and filmmakers, as well as thematic articles. The website went online on 11 February 2005 in connection with the Berlinale. 2011/2012 was technically filmportal.de renewed and extended.

Content

The archive provides information on about 80,000 German cinema and television films (as of July 2013) from 1895 to today. Around 8,000 films are presented in detail with content information, photos, or posters.

(: As of July 2013 ) of filmmakers of the German film represented, for which there (2013 ) there are almost 5,000 biographies in addition filmportal.de are currently around 181,000 names.

These are supplemented by current lexical offers trailers and film clips from German film classics. Increasingly also complete films, including short films, but also offered long productions for free viewing in the " Videos". In addition, topics link the information with introductory articles and background presentations about the history of film in the Weimar Republic, National Socialism and the GDR.

Support of the project

Filmportal.de was the German Film Institute - established Hamburg Center for Research on film and is supported by the other members of the German Kinematheksverbund and the associations of the film industry - DIF (Frankfurt am Main ) in collaboration with CineGraph. The portal collaborates with the Association of Cinémathèques Européennes (ACE ), ARTE, the DEFA -Stiftung, the Goethe-Institut, German Films, the German Film Academy, and the Berlinale.
