Filter feeder

As a filter feeder animals are referred to that filter their food ( detritus, plankton) from the water.

Some, usually sessile ( stuck ) species are filtered suspension feeders. They feed by letting the suspension of water and the solid food particles contained therein as suspended solids pass through their screening devices. Many types called, " Strudler " or " Strudeler " this generate active water flow. Other filter the water while swimming, eating, such as the baleen whales, the zooplankton ( krill ). Some birds, such as flamingos, the water filter with a Seihschnabel.
