Finding Forrester

Forrester - Found! (Original Title: Finding Forrester ) is a British- American drama film from 2000 about an African American 16- year-old who finds a mentor of his extraordinary literary skills in a reclusive and embittered world-class author.

Action

The gifted African American students Jamal Wallace lives in the Bronx and attended a public school until after a public test, a private school is aware of him. During this time he met the reclusive William Forrester know. This has decades earlier written one of the greatest novels of the 20th century, but has since published another book.

Wallace and Forrester become friends. The writer helps the student to develop his literary talent. Jamal writes exercise sake texts, by taking over the title and first paragraph of text Forresters. Jamal reaches such a text in a writing competition at school. But it turns out that Forrester's original text was published decades ago, and Wallace is accused of the envious Professor Crawford of plagiarism. Only the permission of the original author could save him from a suspension, but he would have to break his promise not to tell anyone of Forrester.

Jamal kept his promise. Although Forrester has not left his apartment for years, it appears, even for Jamal surprising in school in order to elucidate the matter itself. Forrester reads a text as if it were from him. The text takes great applause and Forrester clears up now that Wallace has written and submit it to him for him, against the protest of Crawford, at the competition.

Forrester continues, encouraged by Wallace on new adventures, in his old home Scotland. A year later, Wallace receives the message from the Forresters cancer death the manuscript of his second novel with the request to write the foreword.

Background

The literature enthusiastic Connery was very important to this film. He was present as a co- producer on the 2001 Berlinale. The figure of William Forrester is inspired by the American writer JD Salinger.

In this film, Sean Connery meets his old adversary film F. Murray Abraham from the Umberto Eco film The Name of the Rose. Jamal's brother, the budding musicians Terrell Wallace is represented by U.S. hip hop star Busta Rhymes. Matt Damon has a cameo appearance as a lawyer at the end of the film.

Sean Connery was nominated in 2001 for a Golden Satellite Award.

Rob Brown won the Young Artist Award and Las Vegas Film Critics Society Award; for the Black Reel Award, he was nominated.
