The parliamentary elections in Finland 1962 was held on 4 and 5 February 1962. It was the choice of 23 Finnish Parliament.

The Land League, the Martti Miettunen presented the Prime Minister since July 1961, emerged as the victor. The left parties, led by the Social Democratic Party ( SDP), as well as the Popular Democratic Union and the Social Democratic Confederation of Workers and small peasantry, who in 1959 formed from a SDP elimination, lost seats.

Election result

The turnout was 85.1 %, which is 10.1 percentage points higher than the turnout at the last parliamentary election in 1958.

After the election

Ahti Karjalainen from the Land League was prime minister of a government consisting of Land League, the Social Democratic Confederation of Workers and small peasantry, the Swedish People's Party, the National Coalition Party and the People's Party of Finland. In the cabinet were also three trade unionists, but in the fall of 1963 left the government. Reino Lehto was then asked to form a transitional government. Under Lehto worsened the budgetary situation. In September 1964, John Virolainen from the center, now renamed Landbund chairman of a majority of effective government, which consisted of the same parties of Karjalainen - Cabinet, with the exception of the Social Democratic Federation of the workers and small peasants. This period was an economic boom phase and a number of reforms have been implemented
