The parliamentary elections in Finland 1999 was held on 21 March 1999. It was the choice for 33 Finnish Parliament.

The Social Democrats remained, despite losses almost strongest force before the center and the conservative National Coalition Party. In addition to the center and the Coalition Party and the Green Federation and the Christian Democrats took a slight profits. The young Finns who were drafted in 1995 with two seats in the parliament, did not reach another feeder.

For the first time took the 1997 newly registered Communist Party of Finland participated in the parliamentary elections. With 0.8 %, however, she received no mandate.

The reigning since 1995, Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen (Social Democratic Party) led after the elections the previous existing so-called Rainbow Coalition.

The turnout was 68.3 %, which is 3.6 percentage points below the turnout at the last parliamentary elections in 1995.

After the election

Paavo Lipponen (Social Democratic Party) was Prime Minister and led the so-called Rainbow Coalition on.
