Finsterforst
Finsterforst is a German pagan metal band. The band's name is synonymous with the Black Forest, the region from which comes the band.
History
The band was founded in late 2004. On the first demo / EP cradle of darkness a drum machine was used, since the band at that time did not have a drummer. The EP was produced by Finsterforst himself and appeared on 30 March 2006.
The published in July 2007 album World power was distributed through the label World Chaos Production. After problems with this label, the band released the album in February 2009 changed ... to death to go to the label unit productions. The demo appeared in 2006 and both albums included guest appearances by Sevan Kirder, a former member of the Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie. On 28 May 2010 the sold out EP was re-released along with the first album and a newly recorded bonus song under the title of Urwerk.
After the initial problems with World Chaos Productions to publish ... seemed to go down to death under the new label to an end, the band was ready for Destroying Europe Tour 2009., Where they should cooperate with the Bands Shining, Gwydion and Ashaena on concerts throughout Europe to be seen; as the organizer of its obligations and contracts did not comply with the tour but had to be canceled.
Towards the end of 2009, there were singers Marco Schomas and the band separate ways. End of April 2010 was finally introduced to Oliver Berlin as the new singer of Finsterforst.
On September 28, 2012 it was announced that the band signed a contract with the Austrian record label Napalm Records. On November 23, 2012 appeared with Restless world 's third album of the band; the first reviews of the trade press to were very positive. So it was on several online platforms album of the month. 2013 the band played their debut at the Wacken Open Air in 2014 followed by a first European tour with TrollfesT and Cryptic Forest.
Style
The usual for the metal cast of guitars, bass, drums and keyboard is extended to include would be considered a trademark of the band accordion, which is leading melody can be heard in all previously written pieces. Addition there are still others find the genre unusual musical instruments in the compositions of the group again, such as a tin whistle or an oboe. The German and written in rhyming lyrics are sung almost exclusively guttural. Clear singing is rarely used.
Particularly striking and otherwise uncommon for this genre is that most of the songs has a large excess length. Up to and including the album world force the songs were usually between seven and eleven minutes, then in most cases even between ten and 22 minutes.

The song in The Forest power on the album World Power mentioned " Baumharzschlürfer " refers to a critique to the first EP.
On the second studio album ... death will go in the first song of the creation and told in the past by the destruction of the earth by man.
By the third album, Born to Run, the band released a concept album: Lyrically it is about a protagonist who lost everything in his life and was forced to leave his home. It deals with hate, love, nostalgia for the past, hope for a better future, anger and desire of revenge.
