Fiorenza Cossotto

Fiorenza Cossotto ( born April 22, 1935 in Crescentino ( Vercelli), Italy) is an Italian mezzo-soprano.

Life

Cossotto studied at the Conservatory in Turin. In 1955 she was accepted into the studio of La Scala in Milan and began her international career from here, especially as Azucena, Santuzza, Amneris, Lady Macbeth, Adalgisa and Carmen. As La Favorita Leonora had their 1962 artistic breakthrough. Fiorenza Cossotto appeared frequently alongside Callas on ( inter alia, in Norma) and guested on the basis of their vocal power and stage presence for over two decades at the Arena di Verona. She was married to the Italian bass player Ivo Vinco and has two children with him.

In addition, numerous recordings, most of which are also available as a CD released today.

She was part of the late 1950s to the 1980s the most popular and highest-paid singers in the world.
