Firehose (band)

FIREHOSE are an American rock band that existed from 1986 to 1994 and 2012 has reunited for a tour. The band consists of Mike Watt (bass, vocals), Ed Crawford (guitar, vocals) and George Hurley (drums) and chose her name for a line of Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan.

Music style

Watt had previously been an unusual mix of punk represented at the Minutemen with other music genres such as folk and jazz, which was therefore assigned to the jazz score. The style of firehose is located in the indie rock and mixed rock, funk, some free jazz and folk, and was occasionally associated with the post-punk. Many pieces of fire hose are very melodic, some with catchy, sung choruses, but also often very powerful guitar riffs and fast punk -like rhythms change, as in Down with the bass. Also interesting is the changing and joint singing of Crawford, with its relatively high voice and the deep singing watts ( Quicksand ), which is more likely attributable to the baritone and bass. Partly also talks or everyday sounds are added to the shots taken. Some songs like Honey, Please and Toolin ' show hints of soul and jazz, but yet can be assigned to any music category and show the originality of firehose.

On her latest release, a conversation between Mike Watt, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cris Kirkwood is contained by the Meat Puppets and Les Claypool of Primus, which entertained the four bassists on the role of the bass in rock music. In fact, is the sound of these bands the bass due to the strong rhythm in the foreground.
