FK Mažeikiai

The FC Mažeikiai is a Lithuanian football club from Mažeikiai. The club currently plays in the II Lyga, the third Lithuanian league.

Club history

The FK Mažeikiai was founded in 1947. 1961 was followed by the first of many name changes and the club called up for a year ETG Mažeikiai, starting in 1962, he took up under the name Elektra Mažeikiai. 1976 and 1979 during the Soviet occupation of the club was under the name Atmosfera Mazeikiai he wore since 1973, celebrating his first two Lithuanian Championships. In 1979, the Club also still the final of the Lithuanian Cup. From 1990 to 1992 the club Jovaras Mažeikiai was called, then a FK Mažeikiai year. The 1993/94 season was the now well-known as ROMAR Mažeikiai club complete on the first place in the table and thus qualified for participation in the UEFA Awards 1994 / 95th There, however, he lost in the first round of the AIK in the return game each with 0-2 and was eliminated from hence. 1995, the association had relegated to the fourth division and was followed by the return naming FK Mažeikiai because of financial difficulties.
