Flavia Company
Flavia Company ( * 1963 in Buenos Aires ) is a Spanish-language author, translator and literary critic, published in Catalan. She taught at various writing workshops, published essays, short stories, poems and novels.
Life
Flavia Company Navau was born in 1963 in Buenos Aires in Argentina. With its coming from Catalonia parents, she moved to Spain and has since 1973, the Spanish nationality.
At the Universidad de Barcelona, she studied Spanish philology and at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Barcelona Liceu piano. She did research on Mary as the patron saint of fishermen and played clarinet in a chapel of the Limestone La Lira Ampostina.
In 1990 she moved to Sant Carles de la Rapita, a small town of 10,000 inhabitants in southern Catalonia, around 200 km from Barcelona. There, she published a book of prose and poems in Catalan Retrat de la Ràpita, ( Retrato de La RÃ pita ), which was dedicated to her hometown and was illustrated by the painter Rosa Querol.
Since 1995 she lives both in Sant Carles de la Rapita as well as in Barcelona. From 1992 to 1993, she offered every Friday of the school year to a literary workshop for children from six to fourteen years of age and for adults. In 1998, she headed beyond literary workshops for adults in Barcelona. In Sant Carles de la Rapita she worked as literary critic for La Vanguardia, later for Diario 16, El Periódico de Catalunya and Avui - Aún.
In 1999, she published the novella Lady Placer, which was, French and Dutch translated into Portuguese, and has since been taken as a prose writer Europe noted. As a translator, she has among other things transfer the works by the following colleagues into Spanish: Fleur Jaeggy, Luigi Malerba, Josef Paul Hodin and Italo Svevo. She is also a director of a cultural program in the Catalan television. Previously, she also worked as a director, writer and presenter for Barcelona Televisió and other television stations. Her novel The Island of the ultimate truth was well received in 2011 from the German criticism.
