Flensburg radar detector

The FuG 227 " Flensburg " was a passive radar receiver, which was developed in 1944 by Siemens for the German Luftwaffe.

The frequency range was from 170 to 200 MHz. The antenna was mounted on the wing tips. Thus it was the German night fighters possible to lock onto the British reverse warning device "Monica" and to pursue the RAF bombers.

On July 13, 1944 a with a " Flensburg " device landed equipped night fighter from the Ju 88 G-1, identifier 4R UR, accidentally on the RAF airbase Woodbridge. When studying the mechanism of action of " Flensburg " was recognized and "Monica" expanded immediately from all British bombers.
