Florestan I, Prince of Monaco
Florestan I ( born October 10, 1785 Paris, † June 20, 1856 ibid ) was from 1841 to 1856 the reigning Prince of Monaco from the House Grimaldi.
Life
Origin
Florestan was the second son of Prince Honoré IV of Monaco (1758-1819) and his wife Louise d' Aumont Mazarin (1759-1826), daughter of Louis Marie Guy d' Aumont, Duc d' Aumont, de Mazarin, and Louise Félicité de Jeanne Victoire Durfort. His parents were divorced in 1798; his mother married her second husband in 1801 René- François d' Arcis Tirnand.
Prince of Monaco
Florestan was engaged at the Théâtre de l' Ambigu -Comique. After his older brother, Prince Honoré V (1778-1841), died childless, he was unprepared for his successor. In order to consolidate the public finances, he forgave 1856, the first license for a casino in the French Napoleon Langlois and Albert Aubert. On December 14, 1856 Casino de Monaco was opened, which brought prosperity to the Principality later.
Marriage and children
Prince Florestan I of Monaco married actress Maria Caroline Gibert de Lametz (1793-1879), daughter of Charles Thomas Gibert de Lametz. From this marriage two children were born:

- Florestine (1833-1897) ∞ 1863 Count Wilhelm of Württemberg, 1st Duke of Urach ( 1810-1869 )
