Florian Uhlig

Florian Uhlig ( born October 28, 1974 in Dusseldorf ) is a German pianist.

Life

Uhlig gave his first piano recital in 1986. He studied first at Roland Pröll in Dortmund. He continued his studies with Peter Feuchtwanger, as well as other teachers at the Royal College of Music and at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he now lives.

His orchestral debut was the pianist at the Barbican Arts Centre in 1997. Subsequently performed with orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Saarbrücken, the Chamber Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna chamber Orchestra.

In addition to his work as a soloist Florian Uhlig is an active chamber musician and accompanist. He was the last partner of Hermann Prey. In addition, he also develops programs with actors (Christoph Bantzer, Cornelia Froboess and Gudrun Landgrebe ).

Uhlig has recorded the complete works for piano and orchestra by Dmitri Shostakovich on CD. He held master classes and lectures at the Royal College of Music at the Conservatoire de Neuchâtel and the universities of Johannesburg and Cape Town.
