Vienna Chamber Orchestra

The Vienna Chamber Orchestra (own spelling: Chamber Orchestra) was founded in 1946 by Franz Litschauer. It has since acquired an excellent international reputation.

Very important for the musical history of the orchestra was the collaboration with the chief conductor Carlo Zecchi and guest conductors Yehudi Menuhin and Sándor Végh, which the orchestra owes long -lasting pulses. The last chief conductor Philippe Entremont were (Honorary Conductor for Life ), Ernst Kovacic and Christoph Eberle. The position of Associate Conductor Joji Hattori was created and entrusted with this important task in 2003.

From 2005 to 2008, Heinrich Schiff was chief conductor of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. He had to give up his position for health reasons. In 2008, Stefan Vladar was appointed as the new chief conductor. A special value has the collaboration with the conductor Heinz Holliger, Sir Neville Marriner, Adam Fischer and Rudolf Barshai.

The Vienna Chamber Orchestra are a variety of concerts at the Vienna Konzerthaus. In addition to his cycles " Matinees " and " International winners " is the orchestra guest in the series " Symphonie Classique " in the Great Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus. Likewise, it is important for projects such as " opera concertante ", "Movie & Music Live" invited, oratorios, etc. in the same house. The Vienna Chamber Orchestra is also a frequent guest at the Vienna Klangbogen. In this context, there were already several times a collaboration with the Hamburg Ballet and the Arnold Schoenberg Choir. Moreover, it is a welcome guest at major organizers and concert halls worldwide.

His high international reputation is documented through regular tours, which led, among other things, to Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, USA, South America and all countries in Europe.
