Floris Osmond

Floris Osmond ( born March 10, 1849 in Paris, † June 18, 1912 in Saint -Leu near Paris ) was a French scientist and engineer. He is considered one of the founders of metallography. He was instrumental in the elucidation of the allotropy of iron. Various structural constituents of the steel were named by him, such as the martensite after A. Martens.
