Deepest lake in Berlin

The Berlin Airport Lake is located in the district of Reinickendorf north of Tegel Airport, west of the A111 and south of Lake Tegel.

Formation

The lake was created in the years 1953-1978 through the reduction of approximately two million tons of gravel. It is an artificial lake, a quarry.

Access to the lake

Access to the lake is coming from the eastern side of the Otisstraße made ​​possible. Another path leads from the Seidel road along the property line of the Tegel Prison and then about 500 meters through the forest. At both entrances there are several parking.

Recreational opportunities and sea use

Is a vast beach on the north side. At the south-western shore there is a cordoned bird sanctuary. However, this can be viewed from three vantage points. Inflows and outflows
