Flutter-tonguing

Flutter tongue (also frullato ) is a musical tremolo -like ornament or articulation technique of a wind instrument. In the literature it often occurs for flute, trumpet, trombone and saxophone. The flutter-tongue effect is produced by the formation of a rolling R sound. A particular use of it in many older jazz styles, such as the New Orleans, for the production of dirty sound, but also in the free jazz. In Dessauer march will flutter-tonguing in the trumpet solo instrument application.
