Flying Fish Cove

( Often referred to simply as The Settlement ) Flying Fish Cove is the capital of Christmas Island, an Australian external territory.

In Flying Fish Cove live with around 500 inhabitants located about a third of the total population of Christmas Island.

The settlement is located in the northeast of the island; there is a small harbor, which serves primarily to tourism with yachts. An aerodrome is located a few kilometers southeast of Flying Fish Cove. At the beach of the city diving is possible.

Flying Fish Cove since 1888 was the first British settlement on the island.
