Foinikounta

Finikounda (Greek Φοινικούντα, also Finikounta, Foinikountas ) is a Greek port and seaside resort in Messinia. Until the end of 2010 Finikounda belonged to the municipality of Methoni, Methoni since 2011 to the municipality of the new municipality Pylos Nestor. In the year 2011 589 inhabitants were counted in place. Since the beginning of the 21st century and with the completion of the coastal road Methoni - Koroni Finikounda has developed into a tourist destination. It created numerous resorts, hotels and vacation homes, bars, restaurants and shopping centers.

Geography

Finikounda located on the southwestern end of the Peloponnese, about midway between Methoni and Koroni.

To Finikounda includes the villages of Anemomylos, Lachanada, Chrizokambos and Loutsa and about five kilometers from the coast, irregular inhabited island Schiza. Along with these forms Finkounda an eponymous village ( Topiki kinotita ) with a total of 674 residents.
