The Folarskardnuten is a 1933 moh. ( South Summit ) high mountain in Norway. It is located in the province Buskerud and belongs to the municipality of Hol. The south summit is the highest mountain in Hallingskarvet massif, Hallingskarvet National Park and dar. in the province Buskerud He is also regarded as the highest mountain in Norway, south of the Jotunheimen Mountains.

Description

The Folarskardnuten has besides the 1933 moh. high south peak nor a second, 1930 moh. high north peak, the Nordøstre Folarskardnuten. The Vertical separation of the south summit is 917 m. - 955 m. The dominance to the next highest mountain, the Hjelledalstind, 86.4 km. Between the North and South Summit the saddle height is 20 m.

Both make top down flat and plateau -like and fall in the south and south-east several hundred meters steeply.

Development

On the summit lead two walks. One of from the north from the shores of Strandavatnet by the Raggsteindalen that can be completed in 7-8 hours and one from from the south of Haugestøl. The tracks are each just 9-11 km long.

On Folarsskardpass, a few hundred meters west of the summit stands the stone Lordehytta - refuge that. Around 1880 by Charles John Spencer George Canning, III Baron of Garvagh (s: Baron Garvagh ) was built.
