Folke Johansson Ängel

Folke Johansson ( † March 3, 1277 ) was from 1274 to 1277 Archbishop of Sweden. He belonged to the noble family of Ängel. His father was Johan Ängel.

Folke Johansson was the first Archdeacon in Gamla Uppsala. He sat down for the relocation of the seat of the Archbishop Gamla Uppsala to Aros, today Uppsala, a. At the beginning of the 1270er years, he was appointed archbishop. He added the existing four Kanonikaten eight more and gave them a large part of its assets.

About political activities is not known. He crowned 1276 King Magnus Ladulås. At the church meeting in Tälje under his direction, probably also took place in 1276, the first major privileges letter was issued to the Church of king Magnus.

He is buried in the Cathedral of Uppsala.
