Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah

The Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah ( Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah ) is a recognized non-profit private foundation, which was founded in 2000.

History

As endowment 393 million euros were from the French State and French financial institutions paid, which are considered as refund of Jewish property that was confiscated during the German occupation and the Vichy regime of Jewish citizens and after the end of World War II not to the owners or heirs was returned. With the proceeds of the endowment the foundation's projects are funded.

  • Mémoire et transmission ( memory and passing): memorial services and collection of eyewitness accounts

  • Culture Juive (Jewish culture): Cultural events and creating media

The Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah support financially the Mémorial de la Shoah in Paris.

Foundation organs

  • President in 2013 is David de Rothschild and Vice President Serge Klarsfeld. Honorary President is Simone Veil.
