The French University in Armenia (L' Université Française en Arménie, Abbr: UFAR ) is a university in Yerevan, Armenia.

History

On November 4, 1995 Armenia and France signed an agreement on cultural, scientific and technical cooperation. On November 23, 1998, a protocol between the Ministry of Education and Science of RA and the French Embassy in Armenia was signed. " To profit from the necessity of innovation in the education system, starting with the desire of the vast experience in the field of realization of higher education and vocational training programs," the Armenian government decided to participate in the creation of the Foundation "French University in Armenia ". The university was founded in 2000. The first cooperation agreements were signed on 15 February - including with the University Jean Moulin Lyon 3

Even with the establishment of the UFAR became a beacon of cooperation with France and to milestone of the Francophonie in Armenia.

Construction

The UFAR, which is a foundation according to the Armenian law, is supported by the government of Armenia. Among the many teachers are each in their profession well-known experts and government officials. The Chairman of the Council is the Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia, which belongs simultaneously to the founders of the UFAR.

The university is working with the other universities of Armenia together and extended and maintained by its presence in the high school life of the country.

Study

The University is governed by the pedagogical principle of awarding of two state diplomas ( French Licence and Master and Armenian Bachelor and Master ). The Armenian universities are in the transitional phase of the Bologna process. The study in the Bachelor takes four, in the Master's two years. The university with approximately 1,000 students has to design the target, highly skilled professionals according to the new market requirements of the Armenian labor market as well as those of the Caucasian economic region. The young graduates of UFAR use their knowledge both on development of Armenia, as well as to the development of the relations of the country between France and the other European countries. About 70 percent of graduates find a job in the financial year in accordance with their professional training. In about three years after study completion, almost all of the graduates are working.

In contrast to the other institutions that lend a French diploma, such as the University in Cairo, which has only one vice-rector from France or the francophone computer science high school in Hanoi, it is for UFAR - according to its articles of association - binding, the Rector and to provide the Secretary-General of France. According to a decision of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of France this year was also opens up the site for the international volunteer.

The UFAR offers three degree programs in the fields of law, marketing and management. The university awards bachelor 's degrees for professionals in the legal, business administration ( management) and international business law, marketing, trade, finance and control; since 2010, on behalf of the RA and the one-year master's degree program with the qualification " Cultural Communication, Tourism and Management" offered.

At the entrance exams language skills are not mandatory in French. In addition to general education and vocational disciplines the student intensive courses are offered in French. Subsequently, the acquired skills will be tested by an internationally recognized test. Continued education depends on the test result. So then about 85 % of the students who had no knowledge of French before studying at the UFAR, capable to continue from 3rd year studying in French. Thanks to the teachers of universities Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and Toulouse 1 study from 3rd year to 20% takes place in the Bachelor's degree and 50% in Master's degree in French.

After the students in France, Belgium or Armenia is a compulsory periods of practical training, they shall submit a written report, which is then defended orally. Thus both their French language skills in written expression are tested, as also demonstrated their skills in preparation or presentation of a thesis.

The advantages of this - working together with Armenian and French with French organizations and municipal Selbsverwaltungsoragnen university are: entrance exams on a competitive basis, French -Armenian teacher workforce, the essential role of the Armenian Diaspora, as well as the institutional partners.

The tuition fees are set according to the standard of living in Armenia. The UFAR awards to the best students scholarships through which the tuition fees can be paid in whole or in part. Thanks to private donors, funders and organizations also social grants are awarded.

The UFAR cooperates with the organization " European Foundation for Management Development", which gives the best management training institutions a qualification. The University is a member of the University Agency for Francophonie (AUF ) and the oriented on stable development of francophone university network to the Chair UNESCO.

The employment rate, which will be for the graduates of the UFAR in each reporting year to about 80 percent, is the best proof of the undisputed support of the Francophonie in the Caucasus region and thus is also the inclusion of Russian, Georgian and Iranian student / interior due to this project.
