Fonseca (singer)

Juan Fernando Fonseca (* May 29, 1979 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian singer and composer. In his home country, living in Bogotá artist is primarily known by his stage name Fonseca.

Life

Fonseca wrote as a child first songs. He studied music at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. With his first album Fonseca he was suddenly successful in Colombia. His music is a blend of traditional Colombian vallenato, cumbia and rhythms of pop and rock music. He is the Colombian offshoot of record label EMI artist.

Awards

Fonseca received in 2006 for his song Te mando flores a Latin Grammy and Premio MTV Latinoamérica for Best New Artist. The song of the album Enrédame Gratitud 2008 reached # 1 in the Colombian charts.
