Food contact materials

Material or article is a term which in Food, Commodities and Feed Code (LFGB ) will be used.

According to § 2 paragraph 6 LFGB are commodities

The Consumer Goods Ordinance ( BedGgstV ) specifies which materials for consumer goods and food packaging (food commodities ) are allowed and how high the contamination on the body or out of the package may be in the food.

No commodities are items that

  • Apply pursuant to § 2 paragraph 2 of the German Medicines Act as a drug,
  • According to § 3 of the Medical Devices Act Medical devices and accessories for medical devices or
  • According to § 3b of the Chemicals Act biocidal products.
