Food Network (Canada)

Food Network is a Canadian, English-language specialty stations of category A, the predominantly sends topics related to cooking, food and recipes. The station is a joint venture between the Shaw family ( Shaw Media and Corus Entertainment) and Scripps Networks Interactive. Part of the cooking shows are taken from the American broadcaster Food Network, the rest is self- produced.

History

Before its launch of Food Network Canada, the U.S. transmitter Food Network in Canada was receiving since 1997. He enjoyed increasing popularity, so it was decided to set up a Canadian version of the U.S. TV channel to generate additional advertising revenue. By receiving the broadcasting license by the Canadian Radio and Television Commission ( CRTC ), the transmitter was in October of the same year on the air. The U.S. stations began broadcasting a set with the launch of the Canadian version.

On January 18, 2008, a joint venture between Canwest and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, also known as CW Media. CW Media took over Alliance Atlantis, the former operator of the transmitter and the transmitter now belonged to CW Media.

On 27 October 2010 Shaw Communications took over the station through the acquisition of CW Media and the Shares of Goldman Sachs Capital.

Food Network HDTV

On 5 October 2011, started Shaw Media Food Network HDTV, a parallel TV program from Food Network, but in a resolution of 1080i. The HD format is available on the cable networks of Shaw Media, Bell TV and Bell Fibe TV.

Receptivity

The transmitter signal is fed into the cable networks of all major cable operators. Furthermore, the transmitter is available via satellite and Shaw Direct and Bell TV. Furthermore, the television in the form of IPTV is fed into the broadband cable network of Bell Aliant TV, Bell Fibe TV, MTS, optic TV and Sasktel.
