Food processor

A food processor is a mechanical or electrical kitchen appliance, inter alia, for kneading, stirring, grating, pureeing or juicing. Modern devices consist of a base unit with a stirring or collecting bowl and various attachments, such as crusher, mixer attachment, grain mill or juicer and various inserts ( cutting and shredding disc, dough hook, and whisk ).

Historically

The term Equipment has been previously used for other kitchen appliances. Originally it denoted by wood or coal fired cookers ( cooking stoves ). This large, heavy forerunner of the cookers manufactured in iron foundries, emerged from the mid to late 19th century. To whom they were first called " cooking machines". The further development of this " machine " led to the use of ( lighter ) sheets and enamel plates and stove production in factories. In doing so, the terms changed.

Recent History

With the development of modern kitchen appliances, which are now increasingly driven electrically, deprecated the use of the term for Cookers. As food processors now all kitchen appliances were called, the mechanics of which corresponded approximately to a machine. Devices with multiple functions, the forerunner of today's food processors, were " universal kitchen machine " called. Today's term is in contrast strongly concentrated, and only refers to a certain kitchen appliance type.

As a subspecies of the universal kitchen machine and bread machine could be considered. These have driven rotating parts (machine capacity ) and a plurality of built-in functions. However, they are set to a single, clearly defined end product ( bread ).

Unlike Handrührgeräten ( hand-held blenders ) and Pürierstäben food processors are usually designed for stationary use. Some Mixers can be supplemented with a table stand and a mixing bowl ( accessories ) to a standalone unit, so that they can replace together with mixer and related accessories to a food processor in smaller households. The stability of the machines at work can be improved by clamping or suction devices, heavier devices achieve alone by their own weight sufficient stability.

Tools and functions

The machining tools can be disc-, drum - or cone-shaped. Some devices allow the plugging of individual dough hooks or whisk. Scrambled or drip bowls are integrated in the device or can be removed; partially own tools are built-in. Some accessories are complete units ( meat grinder, juicer ) which use only the drive of the machine. The speed can be generally set in a plurality of stages or steplessly. Also a cooking function can be integrated.

In order to reach all areas of the stirred tank alike, have high quality kitchen machines via mechanisms that move the stirrer eccentric, about a so-called planetary or other techniques.
