For a Minor Reflection

For a Minor Reflection is an Icelandic band from Reykjavík.

The band is attributed to the styles of post-rock and alternative rock. It is often compared to bands such as Explosions in the Sky or Mogwai. Attention they gained great that they have the Icelandic band Sigur Ros accompanied in November 2009 for 15 concerts on their tour.

History

For a Minor Reflection consists of the four band members Kjartan Holm, Guðfinnur Sveinsson, Jón Guðmundsson and Andri Freyr Elvar Þorgeirsson.

The band was founded as a hard - rock cover duo in Reykjavík. After a short time was added another member of the band and the style of the band changed back to indie rock. In 2006 came with Guðfinnur Sveinsson added the last member of the band. For a Minor Reflection was a blues quartet, later turned into a Pink Floyd cover band. After some time as a cover band, the band began writing his own songs, which can be assigned to the style of post-rock.

In 2007, For a Minor Reflection their first self-produced album entitled Reistu thig við he Solin komin á loft ... ( German: Get up and sparkles, the sun has risen ... ) on. The album includes six songs, often achieve typical of the genre of post-rock a length of over 10 minutes. At the same time they went to the U.S. and Canada on tour.

2009 left the drummer Jóhannes Ólafsson the band to focus more on his education. For him was Andri Freyr Þorgeirsson new drummer. In the summer of the same year the band recorded their second album Höldum í ATT að óreiðu ( German: breaking towards chaos) in the studio the band Sigur Rós on, along with the American producer Scott Hack With. The album, unlike its predecessor, a total of 10 songs, but are usually shorter than the songs of the first album.

For a Minor Reflection 2011 played among others at the Hungarian Sziget Festival in Budapest.
