Foreign Policy and United Nations Association of Austria

The Austrian Society for Foreign Policy and the United Nations ( ÖGAVN ) was founded in 2008 as a merger of the Austrian League for the United Nations and the Austrian Society for Foreign Policy and International Relations. The ÖGAVN is a founding member of the World Federation of Societies of the United Nations ( WFUNA ) and also has an independent youth organization, the Academic Forum for Foreign Affairs (AFA ).

Objectives

The main task of the ÖGAVN is the information of the Austrian population on issues of Austrian foreign policy and European and international topics. The ÖGAVN would thus promote the interest for intergovernmental relations and understanding of current international events in politics, business and society, and make accessible to as broad sections of the population. A particular focus is the information about the activities of the United Nations and its subsidiary organizations.

Activities

The ÖGAVN regularly organizes lectures and discussions with personalities from the fields of politics, diplomacy, business and science. Every Wednesday is an International Club at the premises of ÖGAVN place in the barn castle in Vienna. Moreover, since 1967, the Foreign Affairs calls on Hernstein castle in Vienna are held every year.
