Forellenbach (Weser)

The trout stream is a left tributary of the Weser in the north- east of the German Federal State of North Rhine -Westphalia.

Geography

The lake has a total length of 11.3 km. The catchment area covers a small part of the northern Lipper highlands west of the Weser. The body of water rises near Valdorf west of Bonstapel and ends after crossing the center of the Vlotho Vlotho station in the Weser ( Weser river kilometer 183.4 ).

History

From the medieval name Vlothowe the trout brook the city's name is derived Vlotho. He has been in modern times also variously mill creek called because it (cereals, oilseeds, etc.) used on its way from today's district Valdorf to the mouth of many water mills. One of the oldest known was at the beginning of this track and is intensively used with their 1641 documented means simultaneously the oldest paper mill in Westphalia -Lippe been. Water power was used much earlier at this location, in the Ravens Berger land register of 1556 is reported of a dilapidated iron hammer.
