Formothion is a chemical compound from the group of Thiophosphoric. Formothion is used as an insecticide, in Germany it was approved by 1971-74.

The use of the active Formothion in plant protection products is not permitted in the European Union. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland are no pesticides are allowed to contain Formothion as active ingredient.

Production and representation

Formothion can by reaction of chloroacetyl chloride and N- methylformamide with O, O- Dimethyldithiophosphorsäure ( DMPA), and ammonium hydroxide can be obtained.
