Forrest Browne

George Forrest Browne ( born December 4, 1833 in York, England; † June 1, 1930 in Bexhill -on-Sea ) was an English bishop and first Suffragan Bishop of Stepney.

Life and career

Browne attended St Peter 's School, York and then the St Catharine 's College, University of Cambridge. At the St Catharine's Browne began his career as a lecturer and chaplain.

In 1887 he went for five years Disney Professor of Archaeology and rose in 1891 in the Kirchenhirachie of Ashley. In 1895, he was then Suffragan Bishop of Stepney and then Bishop of Bristol until 1914.

Incidentally, Browne worked as an academic writer and published several writings.
