Fort Erie, Ontario

Fort Erie [ fɔɹtɪɹi ] is a town on the Niagara River in Ontario, Canada. The Niagara River is a natural border between Canada and Buffalo, New York, USA dar.

Fort Erie, built by the British in 1764, served during the American Revolution as an arms storage for the British armed forces. 1812, when the war between the United States and Britain broke out, Fort Erie was the middle of a new phase, so that the British were surprised by the Americans and lost Fort Erie to sameness. The Americans occupied Fort Erie for a while and were able to repel two attack attempts by the British. Later, the Americans destroyed Fort Erie and returned in the winter 1814 back to Buffalo. The ruins were restored in 1939 as a tourist attraction.

On August 7, 1927, the Peace Bridge between Buffalo and Fort Erie was opened.
