Fortunio Bonanova

Fortunio Bonanova ( born January 13, 1895 in Palma de Mallorca, Mallorca as Josep Lluís Moll, † April 2, 1969 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California ) was a Spanish actor and opera singer.

Life

Fortunio Bonanova was born as Josep Lluís Moll of Mallorca. His stage name he chose to bring yourself happiness and because he loved the neighborhood Bonanova near his home city of Palma. He studied music debuted in 1921 as a singer in Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser. With his appearance in the film adaptation of the same name by Don Juan Tenorio, he was well known abroad. The silent film was shown, among other things in New York City. From 1927 to 1934 he performed and directed several opera performances in New York. He then returned to Spain. He left the country in 1936 with the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War finally the USA. From then on he concentrated on his film career as an actor and was able to relatively quickly establish itself in the sound film. He played in movies with as Citizen Kane, The way to happiness and the love of my life.

On April 2, 1969 Bonanova died of intracerebral hemorrhage.
