Fouesnant

Fouesnant ( Fouenant Breton ) is a commune in south-west Brittany, in Finistère department 9143 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Location

The place is located in Cornwall on the Atlantic coast in the Baie de la Forêt. Quimper is located 13 kilometers (km) north-west, the major city and port of Brest 65 km north-west of Paris and about 480 km to the east (in straight line ).

History

Two menhirs in the district, one on land and the other on the Cape Pointe de Beg Meil, the landmark of human occupation at the end of the Bronze Age and the beginning of the Iron Age. Current studies on the island of Ile aux Mouton presented permanent settlements in different eras fixed ( in the Neolithic Age, the Iron Age and in the era of the Roman Republic ). Also coffins were found to be further trace of old settlement on the Glénan.

Infrastructure

In Quimper and ROSPORDEN there are runs on the highway E 60 Brest -Nantes and stations on predominantly parallel regional rail line in the direction of Brest and Nantes. The train station of Brest is the end of TGV Atlantique to Paris. The airports Aéroport de Lorient Bretagne Sud Aéroport de Brest and Lorient in Brittany, near Brest are the closest regional airports. Even cheaper because closer, though the airport is located in Quimper - Pluguffan.

Twinning

Since 1968 there is a partnership between the cities Fouesnant and the former town Strümp. This partnership was acquired after the founding of the City Sea bush of her. At irregular intervals, a sports exchanges with associated tournaments between different sports clubs from Fouesnant and sea Busch takes place. Since 1999, an annual student exchange between the College Kervihan in Fouesnant and the Mataré -Gymnasium, the Maria Montessori Comprehensive School or Junior High School Osterath in sea Busch takes place.
