Fräkmündt is a folk music band from central Switzerland.

Style and content

The style is referred to by the group itself as Ur -Folk. This Innerschweizer announcements are set to music and interprets old songs again. Is sung in a Swiss German as it is spoken in the area of ​​Lucerne. The name Fräkmündt is the old name of Pilate, a legendary mountain near Lucerne. The name is also found in the forms Fräkmünt, Fräkmünd and Fräkmont, see for example Fräkmüntegg, a north-eastern foothills of Mount Pilatus.

History

Was Fräkmündt in 2009 by Kathi, Chregu and Res founded. A year later, the limited edition of 77 copies demo cassette LotID vo Bärge ond valley and the debut album was released Urbärglieder. The latter was also available in a limited edition wooden box. Also in 2010, joined Anna " Anneli " Murphy as a new member to the group.

With the song D' Draachejongfer to Fräkmündt competed in the fall 2010 for the preliminary round of the Euro Vision Song Contest as the representative for Switzerland, but did not make it to the finalists. Shortly thereafter, the concept -EP Uufwärts e d' Föuse, bärgwärts e d' Rueh appeared. The previously participated as a session already a member Guschti became a permanent member and the end of 2011 their second album Heiwehland, which deals mainly with homesickness in the broadest sense. In addition to a normal version in a digipak, the album was released in limited edition wood slipcase and in a version in a mess tin. As a session drummer acts on this album Merlin Sutter ( from the band Eluveitie ) with, as a guest vocalist Christian Glanzmann (also from Eluveitie ) and the opera singer Christiane Boesiger.
