Frances Fitzgerald (politician)

Frances Fitzgerald (Irish Proinséas Nic Gearailt ) ( born August 1, 1950 in Croom, County Limerick ) is an Irish Fine Gael politician.

Life

Frances Fitzgerald, who worked as a social worker after graduating from University College Dublin and the London School of Economics and Political Science, held from 1988 to 1992, the Office of the Chairman of the Council for the Status of Women.

In 1992 she was elected for the first time at the Fine Gael Deputies ( Teachta Dala ) in the lower house ( Dáil Éireann ) and represented this constituency until 2002 the Dublin South - East. She was elected in the constituency in addition Rathmines in Dublin City Council ( Dublin City Council ) 1999.

After their defeat they had in 2002 leaving the House of Commons and also failed with their candidates in the elections to the Senate ( Seanad Éireann ) as well but again at the general election in 2007. 2007 she became a member elected to the Senate and was there until 2011, the interest group of the workers to.

She renounced her Senate seat after she was elected on 25 February 2011 Members of the lower house in the constituency of Dublin Mid West. On 9 March 2011 she appointed the new Prime Minister Enda Kenny to the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs in the Government of Ireland.
