Francesca Comencini

Francesca Comencini ( born August 19, 1961 in Rome) is an Italian film director.

Life

Comencini is the daughter of film director Luigi Comencini and sister of film director and writer Cristina Comencini. After high school she studied philosophy, the study dropped out after two years and went first to France in 1982. She wrote the autobiographical screenplay for her first film pianoforte, which was premiered in 1984. Her film Mi piace lavorare - bullying was invited to the 2004 Berlin Film Festival and shown in the Panorama section. He was awarded the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury as the best film of the section. Lo spazio bianco took part in the competition of the Venice Film Festival in 2009 and was honored there several times. Comencini was a jury member at the Film Festival in Venice in 2001, and at the International Film Festival of Berlin 2010. During the same year as her sister Cristina 2005 she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. A second invitation to the film festival in Venice in 2012 brought her to the movie Un giorno a speciale.

Comencini was married from 1982 to 1987 with the deceased French film producer Daniel Toscan du Plantier. She is a mother of two. Even her sisters Paola and Eleonora are active in the film business.
