Francesco Azopardi

Francesco Az ( z) opardi ( born May 5, 1748 in Mdina ( Città Notabile ); † February 6, 1809 in Rabat ) was a Maltese composer and music theorist.

Azopardi received his musical education in Malta and during his stay from 1763 to 1774 in Naples. He looked at the Cathedral of Mdina and since 1789 also at St. John's Co - Cathedral in Valletta.

From him an oratorio (La passione di Cristo ), several masses and instrumental works have survived. He was known primarily for his theoretical work Il Musico Prattico, which appeared in 1786 in the French translation by Nicolas -Etienne Framery (Le Musicien Pratique ).
