Francesco Bacchiacca

Bachiacca, (* 1494 in Borgo San Lorenzo, † 1557 in Florence) Francesco Ubertini called, was an Italian painter of the Renaissance.

Life

Bachiacca was the son of the goldsmith Francesco Ubertini Bachiacca. He went with the painter Perugino in the doctrine of the stylistic strongly influenced him in his early days. Bachiacca was based on other models of the time, so to Albrecht Dürer, Piero di Cosimo and Andrea del Sarto. His early works include the tablets from the life of Joseph ( 1515-1518 ).

He spent several years in Rome, where he produced a series of drawings of flora and fauna from around the city. 1540 he returned to Florence to become active at the court of Cosimo I de ' Medici. Here he also took care of the decorative features of the Palazzo Vecchio; seasons, he designed tapestries, which are now on display in the corridors of the Uffizi.

Bachiacca was also a master of painting chest and small figures. He painted cabinets, furniture and other facilities in the town houses. He copied works by Fra Bartolomeo, Andrea del Sarto, Durer, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. In his last years he created his best works, including, for example, Christ before Caifa ( 1539/40 ) or the portrait of Cardinal Leopoldo (1540 /45).
