Francesco Coccopalmerio

Francesco Cardinal Coccopalmerio ( born March 6, 1938 in San Giuliano Milanese, Province of Milan, Italy ) is a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Coccopalmerio studied civil law and canon law. He also earned two doctorates in Catholic theology. On June 28, 1962 Francesco Coccopalmerio received by the Archbishop of Milan and later Pope Paul VI. the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on April 8, 1993 in Milan and titular bishop of Coeliana. The episcopal ordination took place on 22 May of the same year. Francesco Coccopalmerio was on 15 February 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed president of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts and raised Titular per hac vice.

Since May 24, 2007 Coccopalmerio is a member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

In solemn consistory of February 18, 2012 it took Benedict XVI. as cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia San Giuseppe dei Falegnami in the College of Cardinals.
