Francesco Ficoroni

Francesco de Ficoroni (* 1664 in Lugnano; † January 25, 1747 ) was an Italian archaeologist.

The after Ficoroni, one of the most important Italian antiquarians of the first half of the 18th century, named Ficoronische cist is the biggest, most perfect and also the only signed copy among the younger Praenestiner cists. As a guide he showed Rome, among others, Francesco Bianchini, Ridolfino Venuti, Philipp von Stosch, Joseph Addison and Andrew Fountaine. Between 1705 and 1710 he conducted excavations on the Via Appia.
