Francis Hare, 6th Earl of Listowel

Francis Michael Hare, 6th Earl of Listowel ( born June 28, 1964) is an independent party (so-called Cross Bencher ) British politician. He is among the 92 members of the hereditary nobility, which in 1999 retained their seat in the House of Lords after the House of Lords Act. He comes from the so-called Protestant Ascendancy, the Protestant Anglo-Irish upper classes in Northern Ireland.

Life

Francis Hare is the eldest son of William Hare, 5th Earl of Listowel, and his wife Pamela Mollie Day. He attended Westminster School and later studied at Queen Mary, University of London, which he left in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature. After he had previously led the courtesy title Viscount Ennismore, he inherited after, his father's death in 1997 the title of Earl of Listowel.

In the House of Lords, he is involved, especially for disadvantaged children and young people and is one of the bipartisan " Parliamentary Group for Children" at. He also belongs to the Board of Trustees and is treasurer of the Michael Sieff Foundation, which works to improve children's rights.
