Francis Turretin

François Turrettini (* October 17, 1623 in Geneva, † September 28, 1687 ) was a Swiss Reformed theologian from the Geneva theologian family Turrettini.

He was the son of the Geneva theology professor Bénédict Turrettini and was built in 1648 after studying in Geneva, Leiden, Utrecht, Paris, Saumur, Montauban and Nîmes pastor in Geneva in 1653 and also a professor of theology at the Academy of Geneva. Along with Johann Heinrich Heidegger, he wrote the 1674 Consensus Helveticus against Moyse Amyraut. While he was a strict Calvinist orthodoxy himself, his son Jean- Alphonse Turrettini was with Jean Frédéric Ostervald and Samuel Werenfels a forerunner of pietism and the Enlightenment.
