Francisco de Toledo (Jesuit)

Francisco Toledo ( born October 4, 1532 Spain, † September 14, 1596 ) was a Cardinal of the Catholic Church.

After his philosophical studies in Valencia, he studied theology at Salamanca. 1558, he entered the Jesuit order. From 1559 to 1563 he taught philosophy in Rome. In 1569 he was summoned by Pope Pius V. to the papal court, where he worked for 24 years as a preacher. Toledo was created on 17 September 1593 by Pope Clement VIII to Cardinal. As a cardinal priest, he was assigned in Traspontina on October 11, 1593 titular church of S. Maria.
