Francisco Javier Uría

Francisco Javier Álvarez Uria ( born 1 February 1950 in Gijón) is a former Spanish footballer.

Playing career

Uria began his career in 1966 as a 16 -year-old at Real Oviedo. After good games in Dress of Asturias, he moved to the capital to Real Madrid in 1974. In three years at the Royal defender two Spanish titles and a Copa del Rey won. 1977 Uria moved to his hometown Gijón Sporting Gijón, where he remained until 1983, but could not win a title. From 1983 to 1984, the Spaniards let his career fade away in his parent club Real Oviedo.

International Uria played 14 times for the Spanish selection. He participated in the World Cup in Argentina in 1978 in part; at this World Cup left the Spaniards in the first group stage as a group of third parties. Furthermore, the defender took part in the European Football Championship in 1980 partly in Italy, where the Spaniard also excreting in the first round, this time as a group last.
