Francisco Manuel Vieira

Francisco Manuel Vieira ( born September 29, 1925 in Rio Tinto, Portugal, † 23 December 2013, Osasco, Brazil) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Osasco.

Life

Francisco Manuel Vieira received on 8 December 1952 at the Brazilian Archdiocese of São Paulo, the ordination.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 12 December 1974 Titular Bishop of Hippo Diarrhytus and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of São Paulo. The Archbishop of São Paulo, Paulo Evaristo Arns OFM Cardinal, gave him on 25 January 1975, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Benedito de Ulhoa Vieira, Auxiliary Bishop of São Paulo, José Thurler, Auxiliary Bishop of São Paulo. His episcopal motto was " In virtute dei " ( For a mighty God ).

He was regional Episcopal Vicar and 1975-1989 Vicar General of the Archdiocese of São Paulo and 1982-1986 President of the Regional Committee. On March 15, 1989, he was appointed by Pope John Paul II, the first bishop of the Diocese of Osasco.

On 24 April 2002 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related. He died of a stroke.
