Francisco Orlich Bolmarcich

Francisco José Orlich Bolmarcich ( born March 10, 1907 in Alajuela, Costa Rica; † 29 October 1969 in San José, Costa Rica ) was from May 8, 1962 to May 8, 1966 President of Costa Rica.

Life

His parents were Georgina Bolmarcich Lemecich and José Rafael Zamora Orlich. With his brother he founded in 1928 the FJ Orlich & Hnos Ltda. True as steel trading in San Ramón. In the meantime, she was the top-selling coffee company in Costa Rica. On April 16, 1932, he married in Naranjo Marita del Carmen Camacho Quirós ( born 1911 San Ramón ). In this marriage, Francisco José Orlich and Mauricio Camacho were born.

He was a member of the Partido Liberación Nacional [ wp 1]. In 1938 he was mayor of San Ramón and 1940-1944 and 1946-1948 Member of Parliament for Alajuela. As mayor in 1948, he was a follower of José Figueres Ferrer. From April to May 1948, he was Minister of Development, 1948-1949 Minister of Public Works in the junta and 1953-1956 Minister of Public Works in the government cabinet of Figueres. In 1953 he was a Member of Parliament. In 1958 he was a presidential candidate.

Presidency

His deputies [ wp 2] were Raúl Blanco Cervantes and Carlos Sáenz Herrera. During his tenure, Costa Rica became a member of the Southern Common Market Centroamericano. The Hospital Nacional de Niños was opened.

Since 1961, in Latin America, the Alianza para el Progreso [ wp 3] ( Alpro ) touted as the industrialization of agriculture. In March, the president of Central America met in Costa Rica with John F. Kennedy
