Francisco Seeber

Francisco Seeber ( * November 15, 1841 in Buenos Aires, † December 13, 1913 ) was an Argentine military, politicians and contractors. In Buenos Aires, he founded the Villa Urquiza neighborhood. After him is named the Plaza Seeber in Buenos Aires.

Life

1885 Seeber was as a contractor owns the company Las Catalinas. For the construction of Muelles de las Catalinas in Retiro on a plot low-lying material was required for the same landfill. Seeber therefore bought a piece of land in what is now Villa Urquiza, which was known as Lomas Altas and was about 40 meters above the sea level to remove the soil there.

During the construction work itself Seebers workers settled at their workplace. 1887 lived in the settlement of 120 families. At her request, the settlement after the first president of Argentina, Justo José de Urquiza, named, who came from the same province as the workers.

Of 10 May 1889 to the June 4, 1890 Seeber was mayor of the Argentine capital, and thus followed by Cranwell, who replaced as interim mayor Crespo. His achievements, among others heard the establishment of public baths in the city.
