Villa Urquiza

Villa Urquiza is a neighborhood in the northwest of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. He has 89 360 inhabitants (as of 2001) on an area of 5.6 km ². The population density is 15,957 people per square kilometer, which is about the average in Buenos Aires.

History

Villa Urquiza was founded by Francisco Seeber. He was a soldier in the war against Paraguay, mayor of Buenos Aires from 1889 to 1890, businessman and president of the Ferrocarril Oeste ( Western Railway Company ).

Originally Villa Urquiza from the three smaller districts Villa Catalina, Villa Mazzini and Villa Modelo, which lay on a hill, about 40 meters above sea level.
